phxated_gratehouse KAET Channel 8 ran it at 7pm and Clean Elections should have it online soon.

Made my teeth hurt for the most part. Dean Martin sounded like JD Hayworth, Buz Mills like Fife Symington 2.0, and Jan Brewer was flustered and defensive. The pleasant surprise was little-known Matthew Jette. He was surprisingly rational – lambasting Gov. Brewer and the lege for cutting education and health care. It’s refreshing these days to see a Republican politician who understands that a state needs good schools and infrastructure to have a thriving economy. He doesn’t have much of a chance in that primary but I was intrigued enough about him to check out his website.

I KNOW

where you or someone has been or may be currently, because I have and continue to overcome difficulties ranging from being on government assistance, including food stamps, Medicaid, and Medicare to losing a job, a home, and health. I graduated high school by the thinnest of margins to obtaining a PhD while working through multiple learning disabilities and numerous surgeries. I have made a great many mistakes, but I have achieved, with the help of a number of people, great successes. Finally, I am here in part because of a promise I made years ago lying in a hospital bed to a friend who now lives in the memories of many, to afford to others what has been afforded to me; that is, an opportunity to succeed.

Wow.

When SB1070 came up everyone but Jette was gung-ho about it. Jette (rightfully) noted that the law doesn’t do jack squat about border crime and drug/human trafficking and that border crime (and crime in general) in AZ is down. Needless to say, no one mentioned the employers of undocumented immigrants. Employers? What employers?
