His hospitality firm secured a contract from the U.S. Army to provide food and other hospitality services to the American troops that were taking part in the first Iraq war in the early 90s. Lastly, the same hospitality company worked for Americans in the Gulf, Somalia, and Bosnia.
A Brief History of the Damac Group
When Sajwani was still in the hospitality industry, he had developed several luxury hotels. With that little experience coupled with his desire to make billions, he decided to venture fully into the real estate industry in 2002.
He established the Damac Group that year, and he has since helped the firm to go international. Plans are underway for the company to place its shares in the IPO, with the London Stock Exchange rumored to be the preferred IPO venue.
