Dr. David Samadi Invents SMART To Treat Prostate Cancer

Dr. David B. Samadi was born in Iran in a Jewish/Persian community. When the 1979 Iranian Revolution erupted, to keep David and his brother safe, their parents hastily got them out of the country where they settled in Belgium. In1984, David arrived in the United States where he attended and graduated with honors from the New York Stony Brook School of Medicine. He furthered his medical education at the Montefiore Medical Center where he majored in the field of proctology and oncology. Dr. Samadi also received a fellowship to attend the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Today, Dr. David Samadi is a pre-eminent board-certified urologist who treats, and diagnosis cancer related urologic diseases in men. Dr. Samadi is the head of the robotic surgical unit at New York’s Lenox Hill Hospital and he is also the Chairman of Urology. In a recent interview, Dr. Samadi was asked what is his greatest accomplishment and he remarked that it is the Samadi Modified Advanced Robotic Technique (‘SMART’) surgical device. Dr. Samadi said that he invented the SMART surgical robot machine to more accurately pinpoint where prostate cancer is located without destroying any nerve endings.

SMART gives men a more wholesome outlook without any incontinence effects or other side effects that have resulted after surgery. However, Dr. David Samadi prefers that the SMART device not be mass produced. Instead, the SMART surgical robotic device receives free advertisement through his colleagues and patients. David Samadi, M.D., has performed more than 800 laparoscopic surgeries with SMART and his success rate is amazing.

Dr. David Samadi travels throughout many countries talking to his peers, medical institutions, and medical students about the future of robotic surgery. Dr. Samadi also hosts a web TV medical program that streams live on Sundays at 12:30 pm EST. The TV program is known as ‘The House Call’ because he brings fellow national and international physicians into his studio to talk about a myriad of medical topics for men and women. Also, viewers are invited to call in with questions, during the live show and after the broadcast has concluded.

When treating patients, Dr. Samadi believes in meeting them face to face prior to any surgical procedure to better reassure them about the frightening announcement they have received about the cancer diagnosis. Three such consultations occurred when he performed prostate cancer surgery on Mitt Romney in 2017, the former Republican presidential nominee, Colin Powell the former Secretary of State, and John Kerry who in 2002 also ran for the presidency seat. The men had a successful post-surgical experience and remain healthy to date.
